Our school gardens provide a thriving, sustainable, productive and accessible outdoor learning space for our students.
Our garden features raised wicking beds for growing vegetables, a pollinator garden bed, an orchard for fruit trees, a water tank, compost bins and plenty of room for future developments such as a chook-yard. There are also garden beds in our main courtyard brimming with sensory plants designed to engage the students’ senses of smell, taste, sight and touch.
Through engaging with our gardens, our students will learn to care for living things, explore the outdoors through sensory experiences, develop fine motor skills, learn the art of composting and vermicomposting, the importance of water harvesting and conservation and a love of gardening.
Our gardens were established as part of the Dustbowl to Dinner Plate project and our thanks go to a variety of local businesses and groups who generously donated materials and labour during the construction phase of the garden.
We look forward to working with different community groups in the future to share new knowledge and outdoor experiences with our students.
